Message from the Dean:

The Faculty of Economics at SIMAD University was established in 2015 as an independent faculty after originating from the Department of Economics under the former Faculty of Economics and Social Science, which was founded in 2011. The Faculty of Economics exists to prepare qualified economists, statisticians, and Global Traders with a broad university education. It is a symbol of optimism and the future prosperity of the Somalis’ improving economy. Currently offering four-degree programs—Bachelor of Science in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Bachelor of Arts in International Trade and Investment, and Bachelor of Science in Biostatistics—the faculty provides students with rigorous academic training and practical skills to address contemporary economic challenges. As a competitive research hub, the Faculty of Economics takes pride in its SIMAD Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (SES), which produces high-quality statistical data and policy-oriented economic research. Our faculty members actively engage in cutting-edge studies, contributing to academic discourse and informed policymaking. To enhance global academic exchange, we maintain strong collaborations with international universities in Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, and Uganda, as well as partnerships with research affiliates and visiting professors worldwide.  These connections enrich our curriculum, provide cross-border research opportunities, and expose graduates to contribute meaningfully to Somalia’s economic development and the global economy. At SIMAD University, the Faculty of Economics remains committed to excellence in education, research, and community impact, preparing future leaders who will drive sustainable economic growth in Somalia and beyond.
